Our current Members of the European Parliament were elected by 43% of the European citizens. The youth participation (18-24) in the 2009 elections dropped to 29% compared to the 33% in the 2004 elections. There was a difference of 21 percentage points between the 18-24 age group and the 55+ age group, 50% of which went to the polls.

The European Youth Forum (www.youthforum.org) is taking up an initiative with other partners to improve the situation of internships in Europe. Internships should provide a learning experience for young people to facilitate successful integration into the labour market; however, there has been an increased prevalence of internships serving as precarious employment for young peoplea cheap way to substitute workforce. The Life of an Intern: A Rare Glimpse
At the European Youth Forum's General Assembly in Kyiv last week, the Youth Employment Action initiative held the first screening of 'Internview'. The short documentary provides a rare glimpse into the experiences of interns in Europe and by going beyond policy to see how interns and ex-interns feel about internships systems.
